WELCOME!Springtime Story Ballet:THE POWER OF THE CORPS Two shows featuring Pacific Classical Youth Ballet at the Wildish Theater in Springfield, Oregon on March 17 and 18, 2012 This year our Springtime Story Ballet borrows from three classical ballets – Giselle, La Bayadere, and Swan Lake –to demonstrate the power of the corps, the dancers who work together to tell the story and support the soloists. Without the corps, ballets would be one-dimensional and would not capture our imagination. The corps are the wilis (ghosts of jilted brides) in Giselle, the shades (also ghosts) in the young warrior’s dream of his lost love in La Bayadere, and of course, the flock of swans that Odette reigns over in Swan Lake. Pacific Classical Youth Ballet is a pre-professional performing group concentrating on classical repertory as well as neo-classical ballet, jazz, and modern. Performance opportunities include the annual Nutcracker: Kingdom of the Sweets and the Springtime Story Ballet, in addition to community performances at retirement homes, schools, festivals, and more.
